Franky Wah – Attack Magazine
Written by ADMIN on December 21, 2022
What music makes up the Franky Wah musical back story? We decided to find out.
What’s the first record you ever bought?
Baha Men – ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’.
I’m not joking you. That and a ‘Summer Dance Anthems 2002’ compilation which I still have today…
The first time you remember hearing electronic music?
I was 9 and on my summer holidays from school. My sister and her boyfriend were taking me swimming and I remember being in the car on the way back home and Franchino – ‘999’ came on. I remember absolutely loving it so my sister’s boyfriend made me a CD with it on so I could play it at home. I still have it now.
Your favourite ever record?
Ben E. King – ‘Stand By Me’.
This record makes me want to ride through a vineyard in France on a pushbike naked…
The guaranteed floor-filler?
Angelos – ‘The System’. Always.
The guilty pleasure?
Des’ree – ‘Life’.
I genuinely love this record and I’m not even sorry about it. In fact, it’s not even a guilty pleasure.
The last track of the night?
Mojo – ‘Lady’.
Whenever I listen to this record it takes me straight back to the moment that I heard it roughly 22 years ago and actually inspired the video for Under The Sun with AR/CO that came out a few months ago
The best chillout record?
Moonchild – ‘Too Much To Ask’.
The ultimate chiller, love it.
The record everyone loves but you hate?
Robin S – ‘Show Me Love’.
This one is less about the actual record to be fair and more about those people that claim to love it more than they do.
The best record for a family party?
Pantera – ‘Walk’.
My Nan’s favourite.
The soundtrack to a lazy Sunday afternoon?
Young Rascals – ‘Grooving’.
Perfect Sunday tune!
The record you’re proudest of?
‘Get Me High’ because that was the first record that changed everything for me.
The future classic?
Notre Dame – ‘Yumi’. An absolute belter.
